2022 Youth Legislature Conference Update

After careful consideration of the safety of Delegates, Advisors, and Staff, we have made the decision to hold the 30th NC Youth & Government Conference as a virtual program and experience. We recognize that delegates and advisors have committed time, effort, and resources for what was planned as an in-person event, and we are grateful for your commitment. We hope you will still plan to attend the virtual conference.

As you can imagine, this will mean shifts in programs and candidate campaigns. You will hear from us in the coming weeks regarding these changes. Please note, the Legislative and Judicial Conferences will take place together on Friday, February 18 - Sunday, February 20.

The adjusted fee for the virtual Conference is $100 per delegate. If you have already registered, you will be refunded the difference you have already paid. If you registered and choose not to attend the virtual conference, you have until January 18 to request a full refund by completing this form.

For our virtual experience, we will utilize Zoom and a separate website specifically for our Conference. In addition, we will be sending Conference materials to your delegation with of course some fun YAG swag.

Thank you for your participation and support of NC Youth & Government. We look forward to seeing you online in February.

North Carolina Youth & Government Program Highlights

NC YMCA Youth & Government delegates have the opportunity to participate throughout the academic school year and also apply for two options in the summer.

The Youth Legislature Conference | Raleigh, NC

Held annually in February, this conference brings students together from across the state to experience the governmental process first-hand through a youth-run and youth-led model. During this weekend experience, students participate as legislative, judicial or media delegates

Conference on National Affairs | Black Mountain, NC

This week-long summer conference offers opportunities for Youth & Government participants to do research in areas of national and international concern, and to organize their findings into documented proposals. They engage in discussions and debate these proposals with students from around the country.

National Judicial Competition | Chicago, IL

The YMCA National Judicial Competition is held each summer. This program is a combination of Mock Trial and Appellate (Moot Court) events as well as opportunities to meet other students from across the country who share a passion for Youth and Government and the judicial system. The competitions take place at the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Federal Courthouse.
