YMCA of the Triangle

Header slogan

At the YMCA of the Triangle, we know fitness involves more than working out. It's about making good choices to live well inside and out. You’re not only supported by our staff, but you’re also part of a community that helps you be your best self at every age.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight, get stronger, eat healthier, fight disease, improve your energy, or lower stress, we have people and programs in place to help.

Fitness Tools

The YMCA is offering a wearable heart rate tracker that will motivate you, connect you with others, and help you reach your wellness goals. The Myzone wearables will be available for sale beginning in February.

When you use your Myzone wearable you can see your effort, heart rate, and calories burned in our fitness studios.

Group Fitness Classes

Our YMCAs offer a wide variety of group fitness classes for almost every ability and interest.  You'll find low-impact and beginner classes, cardio fitness, dance, Pilates, cycle and Yoga and more advanced cycle, boot camp and kickboxing classes.

Group Fitness Classes: Conditioning

YMCA Conditioning classes are intense classes designed to get your heart rate up, get you moving and get you results.

Cardio Strength

Cardio Strength is a combination of cardio work and strength exercise utilizing various pieces of equipment. Each unique class includes cardio, strength and core work. Class participants will improve cardiovascular stamina, core strength and flexibility.  (medium intensity)

Group Fitness Classes: Cycle

We offer Cycle classes at all full-facility YMCAs. Most locations have dedicated Cycle studios with immersive screens, the latest technology, supporting apps and a community of riders and instructors who will help you learn to ride and challenge you when ready.

Group Fitness Classes: Les Mills

The YMCA offers several Les Mills fitness classes at a few of our locations. More classes and locations are being added throughout 2024.

Group Fitness Classes: MindBody

Mindbody fitness classes at the YMCA focus on movement and breath and the relationship between your workout and your mental health.

Barre offers challenges in coordination, rhythm, and cardiovascular fitness. This barre-based class uses different postures focused on small, isometric hold and small range motion exercises inspired by ballet, yoga, and Pilates.

Group Fitness Classes: Strength

Strength classes target specific muscle groups or provide an overall workout. These classes include Blast, Ripped and Strong, Lean and Cut and Load and Lift.

All classes are offered at YMCA locations around the Triangle.

Group Fitness Classes: THRIVE

THRIVE fitness classes are designed specifically for seniors or anyone who needs a low-impact, slower-paced workout. THRIVE classes are similar to YMCA fitness classes and they are adapted and structured to serve those ages 55 and older.

Cardio Strength

Structured for active older adults, this is a low-impact aerobic class with gentle muscle and core conditioning.

Group Fitness Classes: Yoga

Yoga group fitness classes are designed to help you improve your strength, flexibility and balance.

Gently Yoga is a class with a gentle approach allowing participants to focus on flexibility, stability and balance. The flow of the class moves at a slower pace so participants can open up, stretch and explore yoga at a deeper level.

New Members: Getting Started

Start Strong

Start Strong is a multi-week program offered to new YMCA Members. You'll be able to explore different types of workouts, set goals, and become familiar with all our workout areas. A wellness coach leads all meetings with a small group of members. The goal of Start Strong is to equip you to make the best decision about what your fitness journey will look like. Start Strong is free with YMCA membership.

Personal Training

YMCA Personal Training is a one-on-one session with a personal fitness trainer.

Our personal trainers are educated professionals often with years of experience who can help any YMCA member including working professionals, new moms, seniors and triathletes.

Small Group Training

Small Group Training Sessions are led by a certified personal trainer and each session focuses on a specialized format such as strength training, endurance, or core. Participants will use ropes, kettlebells, bars, TRX equipment and more encouraging individual progression and skill development.

A variety of classes and times are offered throughout the Association.
