Swimming

Swimming is a life skill. The YMCA has been teaching kids to swim for more than 150 years around the Triangle.

We offer parent and child lessons and clinics to help toddlers and babies get used to the water and see the pool as fun. These children can progress to preschool swim lessons and youth swim lessons. Both focus on stroke development and water safety.

Our Junior Competitor program is a gateway to year-round, competitive swimming or the less competitive summer swim teams.

Teens and adults can learn to swim as well in our adult swim lessons or work on strokes, turns and fitness swimming in our Masters Swim program

The YMCA also trains lifeguards with our YMCA of the USA lifeguard training course that includes American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO) and First Aid. Courses are offered seasonally.

Private swim lessons for all ages are available.

And our YMCA offers low-cost water safety and drowning prevention classes to children and adults based on income qualifications. This program is called Swim for Life and is fully funded through the YMCA of the Triangle's Annual Campaign
