YMCA Day Camp Parent Resources

YMCA Summer Day Camp season is in full swing, and we’re thrilled to have your child with us for a summer of fun, friendship and growth. As your camper settles into their daily routine, we want to make sure you have all the information you need to keep them comfortable, prepared and ready for each day.

Below, you’ll find helpful details about how we structure swim time and ensure safety in the pool, ideas for easy and nutritious lunches and snacks, and a quick checklist of what to pack in your camper’s backpack each morning.

Thanks for being part of the Y community—we’re so glad you’re here for the summer!

Keeping Campers Safe in Hot Weather

Each year, as temperatures rise, our staff are prepared to respond with thoughtful, proactive measures to protect the health and well-being of every camper. When the heat index rises, so does our responsibility to make smart, timely adjustments that protect campers and staff.

Camper Swim Time at Day Camp

Pool time is a favorite for campers, but it can raise many questions for some parents. What if my kid isn't a good swimmer or doesn't know how to swim? Are there lifeguards? Where do they swim? Do all camps swim?

All good questions - let us help answer them.

What Should My Camper Bring?

Camp packing lists are not just for overnight camp! Your camper will be busy, active, swimming and thirsty throughout the day. They may want pool shoes and or a change of clothes, and all swimmers will need a towel and bathing suit.

In short, we recommend every child bring a small backpack to carry their stuff around day camp.
