Youth Triathlons

Each year the YMCA of the Triangle introduces more than 100 kids ages 7 - 14 to triathlons. Youth triathlons are a great way for kids to experience a sense of accomplishment. 

The YMCA also offers a five-week training program, certified fitness experts coach participants on swimming, biking and running and help them get prepared both physically and mentally for the swimming and running parts of the race. 

Event Date

The annual youth triathlon will be held Sunday, Aug. 25 from 8 - 11 a.m. at the A.E. Finley YMCA. 

Registration, training program and course information will be available in early summer. 

Course Lengths

Ages 7 - 9
Swim: 75 yards
Bike: 2 miles
Run: one half mile

Ages 10 - 11
Swim: 175 yards
Bike: 4 miles
Run: 1 mile

Ages 12 - 14
Swim: 175 yards
Bike: 4 miles
Run: 1 mile

FIVE-WEEK TRAINING PROGRAM

In addition to the triathlon itself, we are offering a 5-week training program for participants that are interested in learning from certified fitness coaches. This training program will help participants get prepared both physically and mentally for the swimming and running parts of the race. Coaches also help with topics such as race chip timing, course specifics and give race tips.

Training sessions are held on Tuesday or Wednesday nights.
