The Poyner YMCA offers Specialty Fitness classes to enhance and elevate your workout. These classes, led by instructors with advanced training, offer unique experiences that will build on and complement our core group exercise classes. Classes are offered through the MINDBODY app, at an additional fee.

The Poyner YMCA specialty fitness classes are open to all YMCA members for an additional fee. Single and eight class passes are sold through the MindBody app, and interested members must contact the YMCA first to be added to the system.

Essence Flow: 60 minutes
Essence Flow is the perfect Vinyasa yoga class for students to explore spirit, mind and body through a slower flow of movements. With the studio heated to 90 – 95 degrees, instructors will lead students in practicing the connection between their breath and bodies. Poses are held longer than other classes, with a focus on being grounded and connected to breath. All levels welcome.
Gritty Flow: 60-75 minutes
For students looking to push themselves mentally and physically, Gritty Flow offers a fast-paced Vinyasa flow. Set to upbeat music in a studio heated to 95 degrees, instructors in this class specialize in bringing a deeper understanding of yoga practice. All levels welcome.
Power Sculpt: 45 minutes
For anyone looking to combine the flow of a Vinyasa yoga class with heart-pumping, high energy cardio, Power Sculpt is perfect. In a studio warmed to 80-85 degrees, students explore toning moves and breathing connection, all in one 45-minute class. All levels welcome
Release & Restore: 60 minutes
Held in an 80-degree studio, this class combines deep, non-muscular postures held for 3-4 minutes each to get into connective tissue with bolsters and straps to provide restorative results.
Yinyasa: 60 minutes
Our community YinYasa class is open for all. This heated class will focus on flowing and connecting breath to movement for the first 30 minutes; followed by 30 minutes of relaxing, deep connective tissue stretching. All levels encouraged!
Aerial Flow: 50 minutes
Gain strength in your yoga practice as you challenge yourself to stretch further and practice postured with the assistance of aerial silks. Explore vinyasa flows with intelligently choreographed sequences utilizing the silks in and fun and safe way! Note: You may practice inversions in this class. All Levels welcome!
Aerial Restore: 50 minutes
Aerial Restore is the gentle, meditative and slow stretching Aerial Yoga class. This empowering class focuses the mind through powerful visualizations as it floats the body through a series of gentle stretches. You will experience full body inversions and work on deeper spinal flexibility, and mind/body connection. Taught in a sequential flow to music, the class incorporates levitating meditations, zero-compression inversions, supported sun salutations, joint opening poses, and a floating savasana. Working from different hammock heights allows for the gentle opening of the hips and spine. All levels welcome!
Gritty Fusion: 60 minutes
For students who want to combine the core strengthening and lengthening of mat Pilates with the flow and breathing exercise of Vinyasa yoga, Hot Pilates Fusion is the answer. In a studio heated to 95 degrees, instructors combine the best of two disciplines to give students a stronger core and more flexibility. All levels welcome.
Small Class Training
TRX: 30-40 minutes
Created by Navy Seals and adopted by premier athletes around the world, TRX strengthens your core, improves stability and increases muscular endurance. Taught in a small class setting, TRX is a strap-based total body resistance training that uses your own body weight and gravity to produce results.
EDGE Intervals: 30 minutes
Build strength. Burn fat. Refine agility. Improve cardiovascular health. Increase Aerobic Capacity. MX4 combines best-in-class training tools with custom workouts designed to challenge you and improve fitness, power and strength in a small group training setting.
Boxing: 45 minutes
This class is designed to support members' health wellness goals with our non-contact program that combines boxing techniques and tactics with functional movements: Interval training, heavy bag drills, hand pad drills, and calisthentics. Participants will get an intense boxing workout suitable for beginners and experienced boxers, alike. Through this fun, intense activity, you will learn self-discipline, teamwork, leadership, healhthy living and positive social behaviors.
