FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

At the Y, after school is more than just care—it’s a time for growth. Through structured curriculums focused on safety, social development and enrichment, we help students build confidence, stay active and succeed academically. We offer engaging opportunities for students in grades K – 8 across Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham and Johnston counties. Programs run from school dismissal until 6 p.m., including early release days.

We offer three types of after school programs, depending on your child’s school and community. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify on a first come, first served basis.

YMCA After School (Grades K–8):  A safe, enriching environment from school dismissal to 6 p.m. Students explore STEM, arts, literacy and global learning, all aligned with classroom learning.

Y Enrichment: A dynamic experience that fosters creativity and curiosity. Students receive homework help and engage in activities across STEM, arts, literacy, career exploration, and global learning, including club participation.

Y Learning Intervention: Targeted academic support in reading or math, delivered by certified teachers in partnership with schools. Offered at no cost, this program includes 25–30 weeks of instruction plus activities promoting healthy living and character development.

Just a reminder, you must register for YMCA School Programs (Before School and After School) by Monday at 11:59 p.m. in order for your child to attend programs during that week. For example, if you register on a Tuesday, the first day your child is allowed to attend YMCA School Programs is the following week. This process ensures accurate staffing to maintain our high safety standards.
