Camp Excel: Oberlin Middle

2816 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608

Camp Excel, formerly known as YMCA Camp High Hopes, is a Summer Day Camp program offered to children in our community who may already be served through one of our high needs programs. Camp Excel is a fully subsidized day camp. The program is supported by donations to the YMCA Annual Campaign.

Camp Excel offers traditional day camp programs, as well as Sports Camp, CILT program, Kindergarten Readiness and Middle School Camp. Our Camp Excel Sports Camp focuses on developing skills and teamwork in a specific sport each week. The Camper In Leadership Training program (CILT) provides motivated teens with hands-on leadership experience as they encourage, guide and lead younger campers.

CILTS

Campers in Leadership Training is for our oldest campers, age 13 - 15. These campers will enjoy special activities, and hands-on training and leadership skills and development.

Middle School

Camp High Hopes Middle School is for grades 6 - 8. Older campers enjoy more privileges and freedom than younger campers while still being safe and participating in general day camp activities.

Kindergarten Readiness

This smaller camp-within-a-camp model is for our rising kindergartners. We take special care of our youngest campers and help prepare them for kindergarten and the additional responsibilities that school brings. Our staff to child ratios are smaller for this camp too to allow for more individual attention.
