Camp Excel: Carrboro Elementary
Camp Excel is operated through the Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA. It is a fully subsidized summer day camp for children in select neighborhoods and communities in Orange County, or who qualify on a needs basis. The program is made possible through support of the YMCA's Annual Campaign.
At Camp Excel, campers can choose their activities. We offer sports, swim lessons, character development activities, literacy instruction and traditional camp activities such as arts & crafts and outdoor games.
Children are fed breakfast and lunch through YMCA partnerships.
Camp Excel is held at Carrboro Elementary School and is open to rising grades K - 10.
Camp Excel is for children who are currently enrolled in Y Learning and their siblings. If you are not currently enrolled in Y Learning and eligible for Camp Excel, and would like information on financial assistance opportunities for our other day camp options and programs, click here or contact branch Welcome Center staff.

Our Counselors
YMCA Summer Day Camp Counselors are hired based on their enthusiasm, energy and maturity. All counselors receive training in everything from managing a group of energetic kids to basic first aid.
