The YMCA of the Triangle is the area's most popular provider of After School programs and activities, serving dozens of elementary and middle schools in Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Johnston and Lee counties.
At YMCA After School, kids expand their learning beyond the classroom. We use a balanced curriculum with opportunities for character development, STEM activities, arts and humanities, community service and physical activity. Our popular homework club, Excel, is offered Monday through Thursday.
YMCA After School is a structured program with time for kids to start homework, engage in active fun and enjoy a snack with friends.
During the week, campers can choose different clubs, or clinics, that they are interested in, such as cooking, storytime, writing, basketball or backyard games.
YMCA After School is held from school dismissal until 6 p.m., and all early release days are included.
YMCA After School programs are held at elementary and middle schools across the Triangle. Some after school programs are also held at YMCAs. In these cases, the YMCA transports campers from school to the YMCA.

Responsible high school and college students lead our programs. Our After School youth counselors receive 30 hours of staff training annually, and we maintain a 1:12 staff-to-child ratio.
