SAS Championship Golfers Visit Y Learning

On October 11 – 13, some of the top golfers on the PGA Champions Tour will take to the course for the SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club. But on October 9,  before they focused on the competition, two golfers stopped by our Y Learning program at Carpenter Elementary School to meet the students.

Ken Duke, a 2019 PGA Champions Rookie and Esteban Toledo, a four-time winner on the Champions Tour visited the program and took time to join the students on the sports field to play soccer and give golf swing tips. They also joined the students in the classroom to read books to them.

Y Learning is a standardized tutorial program, for students in grades K – 8 who struggle to reach school-system benchmarks. Because most Y Learning students lack financial means to pay for the program, it completely funded through gifts through the YMCA of the Triangle’s Annual We Build People Campaign.

We’re grateful to the SAS Championship for its continued support of Y Learning and students in our region. You can join SAS in making a gift to the annual campaign today.
