Canes Street at the YMCA
The YMCA of the Triangle is proud to partner with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes to bring the game of hockey to more youth in our community this spring through “Canes Street” presented by Spectrum.
An initial street hockey skills academy for children ages 9 - 11 will be offered at the Taylor Family Y on Saturdays, May 9 - June 27. This program aims to develop players’ skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. Register to participate.
Through this collaboration, the Canes will help our YMCA launch a new street hockey program designed to introduce young participants to the sport in a fun, inclusive and accessible way. The long-term vision is to grow this initiative into a full-fledged league, creating more opportunities for kids to stay active, build skills and develop a love for hockey.
As part of their commitment, the Canes will donate all necessary equipment to ensure every participant has what they need to play. In addition, the Canes Youth & Amateur Hockey Team will provide YMCA staff and volunteers with hands-on training and resources to help us confidently lead a successful and sustainable hockey program.
