It’s 10:00 pm. You’ve just spent a long day traveling and debating bills, your clothes are getting uncomfortable, and now you’re hungry. This was the reality for many delegates last night as the first session of the 2026 Youth and Government came to a close. Since there was no organized dinner and the 10:45 pm hotel curfew was approaching, delegates immediately ordered food for delivery.
In one word, the hotel lobby was absolutely overwhelming. Within 30 minutes of the session's end, it was completely flooded with pizza boxes, food bags, and frantic food-delivery drivers. It was tough to find the rightful owners of each order due to the sheer number of hungry teenagers and the confusion over order names and numbers.
Most delegates eventually got their fix, thanks to all of the delivery drivers who braved the storm. This “DoorDash Debacle” is an excellent reminder of the frantic energy that makes this conference so fun. We work hard, debate long, and apparently, we eat late.
