Pilates Reformer Classes

Pilates Reformer classes start in February at the Northwest Cary YMCA! Pilates Reformer classes are held using a reformer machine to help with balance, stretching and holding poses. Classes will be available for purchase through the YMCA fitness app.

What are Pilates Reformer Classes?

Pilates Reformer classes are Pilates held on a reformer machine. The reformer machine is a piece of equipment used in class. It is horizontal with straps, a sliding carriage, and other resistance tools. A reformer can help with stretching, balance and holding poses. 

Class Types

The Northwest Cary YMCA will offer several classes, with more added later in the spring.

Pilates Reformer Intro
Pilates Reformer Intro is a beginner-friendly class designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and successful on the Pilates Reformer—no prior experience required. This class introduces the fundamentals of how the Reformer works, including springs, straps, carriage movement, and basic set-up, with an emphasis on proper technique and safety.

You’ll learn essential Pilates principles such as alignment, breath, and core engagement while moving through simple, guided exercises at a slower pace. Instructors provide clear explanations, hands-on support, and modifications to ensure you understand how to move effectively and safely.

This class is the ideal starting point for anyone new to Reformer Pilates or returning after time away. You’ll leave feeling informed, empowered, and ready to step confidently into Pilates Reformer Foundations and beyond.

Pilates Reformer Foundations
Pilates Reformer Foundations is a welcoming, full-body class designed to introduce you to the Reformer while building strength, confidence, and body awareness—no prior experience required. You’ll learn essential Pilates principles, including alignment, breath, and core engagement, through smart sequencing and supportive guidance. Expect spinal decompression, gentle stretching, and approachable challenges that leave you feeling taller, stronger, energized, and accomplished—never overwhelmed.

Pilates Reformer Flow
Pilates Reformer Flow is a dynamic, moderately challenging full-body workout that builds strength, flexibility, and deeper core stability. This class features continuous, flowing sequences that layer contemporary Reformer exercises with thoughtful transitions to challenge endurance, coordination, and control. Ideal for participants with prior Reformer experience who are ready to progress, you’ll leave feeling strong, balanced, and revitalized.

Pilates Reformer Express
Pilates Reformer Express is a time-efficient, full-body workout that delivers maximum impact in 45 minutes. This focused class emphasizes core strength, alignment, breath, and controlled movement through purposeful, flowing sequences. Ideal for busy schedules, you’ll build strength, improve mobility, and leave feeling energized, accomplished, and supported in your everyday movement.

Pilates Reformer Restore and Lengthen
Pilates Reformer Restore & Lengthen is a calming, supportive class designed to release tension, improve flexibility, and restore balance throughout the body. Through slower pacing, longer holds, and mindful transitions, you’ll gently decompress the spine and joints while improving mobility and stability. This class is ideal for recovery, stress relief, or active rest—leaving you feeling lighter, more open, and deeply refreshed.

Reformer + Cycle Fusion
Reformer + Cycle Fusion blends the precision and core-focused strength of Pilates Reformer with the cardiovascular power of indoor cycling for a balanced, high-energy workout. You’ll rotate between the Reformer and the bike to build deep core strength, muscular balance, and cardiovascular endurance through intentional sequencing that keeps you engaged and challenged. Expect to leave feeling strong, energized, and empowered to move better, ride stronger, and live healthier.

Schedules

Class times and days will be posted on the website, and in the YMCA fitness app by mid-February. 

 

Cost and Registration

Pilates Reformer classes are part of the YMCA's small group training program. There is a per-class fee. All Pilates Reformer classes must be purchased and booked through the YMCA fitness app. 

1 Class: $20
4 Classes: $60
8 Classes: $90
Unlimited: $100 per month

Cancellations and No-Shows

Pilates Reformer classes have very small class sizes and limited equipment. Our cancellation and no-show policies help ensure fair access for all members and keep class spots available for those ready to attend.

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged.
  • No-shows will result in a session deduction or strike.
  • Unlimited members who no-show more than once per month may lose Unlimited eligibility.
