Y Community Outreach Featured on Univision

RALEIGH, NC - YMCA of the Triangle Community Programs will be featured on Univision November 1 and 2 at 6 and 11 p.m. The six minute interview of Taylor Family YMCA Community Case Manager Coreen Villalobos by Univision Contigohost Mayra Rodas will be entirely in Spanish. Watch the interview on the Univision Contigowebsite here.

"The interview was an amazing opportunity to raise awareness about our program and how we create programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all," said Villalobos. "We shared the way the Y supports our families, and all the services and resources we provide with the generous contributions members and community donors provide to our Annual Campaign."

Through philanthropic efforts the Y is able to provide community members in need with support in the following areas:

  • Financial Education: job search support, resume and cover letter preparation, business attire assistance, mock job interviews and basic financial management skills.
  • Child Education: helping parents navigate the school system, schedule meetings with school staff and teachers and advocate for their children’s learning and special education needs.
  • Spirit and Mind: creating spaces for community connection so families do not feel isolated or alone, which supports better mental health.
  • Safety: connecting mothers who are victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and human trafficking with protection agencies.

The case management team at the YMCA of the Triangle excels in navigating community resources, building partnerships, developing action plans, and supporting self-esteem, emotional well-being and achievement of clients' personal goals.
