Camp Clearwater: CILTs

1720 Clearwater Lake Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517

This camp is a leadership development program for teens. Your teen can gain leadership training and experience while serving as a role model for younger campers in support of our counselors and staff.

Registration/Application Process:

  1. Register Online (beginning Jan. 1 for members, Jan. 15 for non-members)
  2. Complete this CILT application (new and returning participants)
  3. Teen attends group interview
    -Sat., April 12, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
    -Sun., May 4, 1:30 - 3 p.m.

In addition to registering your CILT please fill out this application, regardless of whether or not you are a returning or new participant!

Please DO NOT WAIT TO REGISTER as spots do fill up quickly! Applications and group interviews are not a pass/fail system unless the teen director deems that a participant is concerningly ill-equipped to participate in the CILT program as determined in the group interview process.

Mark your calendars! We're hosting three family events at Clearwater this summer:

  • Thursday, June 5, 6:30 - 8 p.m.: OPEN HOUSE! New campers and their families are welcome to visit and ask any questions they may have before camp begins. Returnees who just need a taste of camp fun to hold them over before the summer gets going are welcome, too!
  • Thursdays, June 26 & July 24, 6:30 - 8 p.m.: FAMILY FUN NIGHTS! Regardless of which sessions you're attending, bring the whole family to camp for a potluck dinner and fun camp activities.

At Camp, Character Matters

At YMCA Summer Day Camp, campers earn beads for exemplifying our five character traits: Honesty, Respect, Caring, Responsibility and Faith. Campers can earn beads daily by being a good friend, picking up after themselves or leading a camp prayer.

My name is Chandler Briggs, and I am the Teen Programs Director! I myself grew up in the YMCA and participated in Y programs from After School, to Sports, to even the CILT program! I am a Tar Heel born and bred and I got my bachelor's and master's degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. For fun, I enjoy playing volleyball, dancing, watching reality tv, and running my Etsy shop.
