Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the U.S. It is commemorated on the anniversary of the June 19, 1865 announcement by Union Army General Gordon Granger, proclaiming freedom from slavery in Texas. Join us as we commemorate this holiday at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA.
Join us and our community partners to celebrate Juneteenth with a day of activities including:
- A Live DJ and Cardio Dance Classes
- Food Trucks
- Area Black-Owned Businesses
- Educational JUNETEENTH presentations and activities
- Family games and activities
Our Juneteenth celebration is free and open to the public. So make plans now to attend and share with your friends and neighbors.
