The YMCA of the Triangle is thrilled to be one of the recipients of a PNC Grow Up Great Grant to support quality pre-K initiatives across the Triangle. This grant will support the Camp High Hopes Kindergarten Readiness program at various YMCA across the Triangle, including the new Southeast Raleigh YMCA.
About Camp High Hopes
Since 1992, our YMCA has run Camp High Hopes providing children from under-served communities with the opportunity to participate in subsidized summer day camp. In most cases, the Y provides transportation to and from camp as well as breakfast, lunch and two snacks each day. Additionally, children receive swim lessons, fun camp activities and one hour of academic enrichment each day led by a certified teacher. Our Camp High Hopes Kindergarten Readiness Program gives children, who otherwise would not have the opportunity, a chance to attend seven weeks of pre-K programming. At camp, the children improve in both academic and social skills, building a strong foundation and confidence to ensure they start kindergarten ready to learn.
Shared Commitment to Early Education
PNC has demonstrated a commitment to improving access to quality, early childhood education through their Grow Up Great Program, and they have partnered with the Y since 2016 to help us develop and grow our Kindergarten Readiness Program. Like PNC, we believe that an investment in pre-K students, particularly in under-served communities, is critical for building healthy and strong communities.
Thanks to PNC’s generosity, we will be able to expand Camp High Hopes Kindergarten Readiness into the Wake Forest, North Raleigh and Southeast Raleigh communities ensuring that even more children will be equipped with the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.
