Meet Kerr's Personal Trainers

YMCA Personal Training is a one-on-one session with a personal fitness trainer. Personal training will be offered with additional social distancing protocols in place at this time.

Our personal trainers are educated professionals often with years of experience who can help any YMCA member including working professionals, new moms, seniors and triathletes.

YMCA personal trainers come from as many different backgrounds and walks of life as our members do, and we take great care in matching members with the right personal trainer.

Ron Bellamy

Certified Personal Trainer & NCHSAA Football Coach
Additional Specialties: Strength Training, Teen Conditioning & Adult Weight Loss

Ron brings 20+ years of training and coaching experience to the Y! His motto is "strength builds confidence" and he has a passion for creating personalized workout plans based on individual goals, whether it be a young athlete with a sport-specific focus or an adult focused on active longevity.

Katy Coombs

B.S. in Exercise Science, Certified Personal Trainer, Speed Specialist, Postpartum & Pregnancy Corrective Exercise Specialist and Spartan SGX Coach

My certifications as a Speed Specialist and a Spartan SGX coach mean that I can train you to move faster, with more power and agility, to help you get ready for your next event.  

Fitness is more than just being in shape.  It’s about being able to function normally in order to perform everyday activities. As a mother of six, I know what it’s like to want to get back into shape, get back into running and racing, and basically get your life back.  Getting to that point can take some time, but with the proper Postpartum Corrective Exercise techniques, I can help you get there!"

"I spent many years as a YMCA member and group fitness participant, before moving to the front of the class as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. I understand the obstacles people face when starting a fitness routine and can customize a program to help overcome your obstacles.

I love helping people start their fitness journey, accomplish goals and see their excitement when they realize they are capable of so much more than they realized. I want to help people find a love of fitness that becomes part of their lifestyle. There are so many different options available to move our bodies and I can help you find what you enjoy and will keep you moving and working toward an overall healthier lifestyle."

Sue brings a wealth of experience and her educational background in Exercise, Sports Science and Nutrition to our Kerr team.

"I believe exercise needs to be fun! Doing activities that you enjoy as well as changing up your routine can help. Feeling stuck? Not sure where to begin? I can help! I bring a different way of exercise to my clients. Adding new & fun exercise stations that you may have never done before. Tom Shank

Tom's background as a business professional with an on-the-go schedule allows him excel in crafting training plans that are time-efficient and results-oriented. He prioritizes matching your schedule and goals with a personalized plan to achieve the flexibility, cardio and strength conditioning that you want to focus on.

Beth Stout

Certifications & Specialties: Personal Training, Nutrition and Group Exercise

Beth has served clients of all ages and fitness levels in bootcamps, small groups and 1:1 training. She is adept at customizing to the goals and interests of her clients. A community-focused member of the Y team, her goal is to help her clients thrive in personal training, and find their personal tribe in the YMCA community. Her specific experience with YMCA's Medical Membership Programs means she is interested in serving the whole person - body, mind and spirit.   

Cheryl Williams

Additional Specialties: Injury Prevention & Rehab, Circuit Training, HIIT, Tone/Strength/Stability Training, Functional Fitness, Core Training & Diabetes Prevention 

A New York City native from the Bronx, Cheryl has always been physically active, and experience setbacks due to severe injuries that left her facing extended rehabilitation. Those challenges further fed her love of fitness that she shares with clients of all types - from beginners to those looking to push towards new heights. Cheryl values her client relationships and being a consistent source of direction, balance, motivation and accountability while they progress to obtainable goals.
