Meet Kerr's Personal Trainers

YMCA Personal Training is a one-on-one session with a personal fitness trainer. Personal training will be offered with additional social distancing protocols in place at this time.

Our personal trainers are educated professionals often with years of experience who can help any YMCA member including working professionals, new moms, seniors and triathletes.

YMCA personal trainers come from as many different backgrounds and walks of life as our members do, and we take great care in matching members with the right personal trainer.

"My professional fitness journey started as a cycling instructor over 15 years ago. Cycling was an exercise I enjoyed participating in and eventually I started seeing an improvement in my mental and psychical well-being.

I truly believe that if you find a workout that you enjoy and have fun doing you will stick with it. I can create an individual exercise program that will be effective and appropriate for your current fitness level and abilities and that will also help you build amazing habits for working out.

My favorite thing about what I do is seeing how people transform both mentally and physically when they incorporate exercise into their life.

What makes me different from other personal trainers is my ability to listen, ask the right questions and understand the needs of my clients. A former client of mine recently contacted me to tell me that she just got her cycling certification and how much I influenced her to do so and she really appreciated me being there to motivate her on days she just wanted to give up."

She saw how much joy dancing brought to the participants in her classes and since then has been very passionate about helping the special needs population through their fitness journey. “Fitness is more than just being in peak condition. It is also about being able to function normally in order to perform everyday activities. That can have different meanings at different points in our lives. Whether you are training for an athletic event or trying to stay active, fitness is an important aspect of wellness. As an endurance athlete, I understand the demands of training for peak performance and the importance of injury prevention. As a mother of six, I know what it’s like to want to feel good while pregnant, to get back into shape, get back into running and racing, and basically get your health back after having a baby. We are each at a different point in our fitness journey, and I enjoy being able to meet you where you are and help you increase your capacity, your enjoyment of life, and being a part of your wellness routine.”

"There is a Sioux legend stating the longest journey a person will make in his or her life is from the head to the heart. My passion for exercise stems from this legend, the benefits of exercise impact the whole person: physical, mental and emotional.

"We all have our own journeys, our own whys, my personal fitness journey began after a bout with postpartum depression. I started running, sometimes alone, sometimes with kids in tow, but the running made me feel more like me again. And the more days I ran, the longer these feelings lasted.
