Improving Health and Wellness
Meet Laura. In 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That's when a good friend prescribed the Y.
“I have a friend who had cancer in 2015 and she said to me, ‘once you’re past all the treatments, you really need to go to the Y for the LIVESTRONG program,’” said Laura.
Laura says her healing truly began when she joined LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. She credits the 12-week health and wellness program with improving her stamina and recharging her spirit.
“Cancer rocks your world," said Laura. "LIVESTRONG helped me realize I could be strong again physically and emotionally. I feel the program is unique for cancer survivors. I don’t think there is anything remotely like it elsewhere in the Triangle."
At the YMCA, we are committed to providing health and wellness opportunities to everyone in our community regardless of their ability to pay. Our collaborations with public health administrators, local physicians, volunteers and donors help our YMCA effectively bridge gaps in care and reach more people.
We’re celebrating 25 years of building people through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Help us inspire involvement, bridge critical gaps and create opportunities for all.
100% of every dollar given through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign is invested in the lives of people who need the Y.
