How do Yaggers survive their 16-hour days filled with mock trials, legislative, judicial, and media? The answer is simple: CAFFEINE. Starbucks, Complex Coffee, hotel coffee, vending machine Celsius, and Sir Walter Coffee are some of the most popular sources of energy for YAG delegates to fuel up and ensure lasting energy for their long day of work and their fun-filled nights.
So, what is the inside scoop on where everyone is ordering this coveted necessity?
Starbucks, a household name in the world of caffeine, is in a prime location for all things YAG. On your way to the buzz of the convention center, you can make a quick pit stop on your right in the Marriott Bonvoy, where caffeine heaven and a winding line awaits. There is a drink for everyone, whether it be Cate Seibert’s chai with a shot of espresso, Emma Smith’s green tea with a strawberry acai base, or Julia Collins’ venti iced hazelnut shaken espresso with one pump of hazelnut and two pumps of sugar-free vanilla.
Next, a new addition to the Raleigh Convention Center, is Complex Coffee. Which welcomes Yaggers with a homey feel, incredible coffee, and tasty treats. It’s a quick and easy stop– perfect for getting energized right after the morning general session for the next three hours of rigorous work. Lilia Wall ordered an iced vanilla latte to start the day right.
Last but not least, Sir Walter Coffee– which seems many delegates have yet to discover– sits across the street from Starbucks. They offer the same delicious coffees but half the line that Starbucks does. They provide a quicker option for those needing extra help to wake up for the morning session.
YAG hours are not for the weak but for those YAG delegates that consume 2-3 coffees, refreshers, or teas each day to help them power through and perform to the best of their ability. Try a new drink, visit a new coffee shop, and get energized for a weekend full of fun!
