Mondays and Fridays are our swim days from 1 - 1:50 p.m.!

Children should bring a bathing suit and towel for swimming. All campers will have a chance to swim test on Mondays only for their yellow band. Campers who choose not to test or don't pass their swim test are required to wear a life vest provided by the Y.

Camp Expedition is all about exploring different places.

Monday and Friday camp is held on site at the Northwest Cary Y with a variety of exciting summer camp programming planned for your camper.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday campers travel offsite through field trips to different locations. We will explore state parks to go hiking, trail walking and fishing. We visit places such as farms, museums and aquariums. Every day is a new adventure! We leave from the Y at 10 a.m. on field trip days and arrive back between 2 - 2:30 p.m.

June 6 from 2 - 4 p.m.

Meet Chris Hammie

Hammie has been with the Y as a Youth Director for three years, overseeing three before and after school programs throughout the year. This summer will be my fourth year serving as Director of Camp Expedition. I grew up as a Y kid myself—first a camper, then a summer counselor—so this work is deeply personal to me.

Outside the Y, I coach basketball, DJ for events and spend quality time with my family.

Meet Saraya

Hi! I'm Saraya. This is my third year as the Assistant Director of Camp Expedition. Here's some interesting facts about me:

  • I'm a middle school teacher.
  • I coach high school volleyball. Go Pats!
  • I was a college volleyball player at Shaw University.
