Tracy Howe Endowment

Leadership for Tomorrow

Tracy Howe is retiring from the YMCA of the Triangle after 30 years of service. His passion for leadership development has helped countless people grow in Christian character and confidence. This endowment honors his legacy by funding Christian leadership training programs for YMCA staff.

Tracy began his time with the YMCA at Camp Sea Gull as a camper and moved up to sailing staff. From there he worked as a youth director at the Alexander Family YMCA before he became the first staff member at the Cary Family YMCA.

The Cary Family YMCA's first program was a mall walking group at the Cary Village Mall. From there, he devoted 50 percent of his time to Young Life at Cary High School and partnered with Wake County Public Schools to pilot the first year-round school at Kingswood. Little did he know, that initial partnership would lead to the YMCA being the leader in year-round Track Out programs.

Tracy is well-known for his devotion and enthusiasm for Christian leadership. He developed the GET SLICK training for youth counselors that the YMCA uses to this day. Tracy's commitment to servant leadership, training up teens and young adults in our community and our YMCA will live on through this endowment.
