Weekly Mentor for Youth at Community HOPE

Community HOPE is a faith-based mentoring and literacy program that addresses the individual learning needs and holistic growth of students living in affordable housing communities in Raleigh. Each student is paired with two adult mentors/advocates who support the student for an entire school year and often longer. Through this program, you and a child will have an opportunity to build a relationship and assist him or her in developing confidence and an expanded vision for the future.

Mentoring sessions are held weekly for one hour, Monday through Thursday from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. or 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. during the school year. The Community HOPE program is hosted at five local churches in Raleigh. For a more detailed volunteer description, click here

After School Tutor at Y Learning

Y Learning is an after school tutorial program that gives children academic help where they need it most. Most Y Learning students lack financial and educational support at home, and school counselors refer them to the program to enable them to meet school benchmarks. Students grades 3-8 practice challenging skills through creative activities that emphasize character development and build self-confidence.

Located at area schools, the Y Learning program operates four afternoons per week during the after school hours. Guide children in completion of homework and skill building activities including End of Grade test preparation. Encourage and praise success. We ask that tutors commit to a minimum of one afternoon per week. Scheduled times may vary from week to week or according to schedule.
