YMCA of the Triangle youth basketball leagues are a great way for your kids to fine-tune their skills, practice good sportsmanship and have fun. Kids in YMCA youth sports leagues learn about dribbling, shooting and guarding.
They also learn the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in a sports team environment.
The YMCA relies on volunteer coaches who can not only teach a child how to dribble but also how to be a team player.
Details and Locations
Youth basketball teams usually play one game per week and attend one practice per week. Team members spend time on skill-specific drills and learning plays and game strategy.
Teams are formed based on age and grade and play at YMCAs and area schools around the Triangle.
Each player receives a jersey, and all players must have sneakers with non-marking soles to play inside all YMCA gyms.
Teams are led by volunteer coaches. All volunteer coaches undergo a background check and training. Opportunities are available for coaches and assistant coaches at all locations.
YMCA youth basketball teams play in the fall and winter and registration takes place in late summer.
