The YMCA offers a variety of wellness opportunities for active older adults—from baby boomers to seniors—including physical fitness, social activities and more.
If you want a low-intensity workout due to arthritis or other physical or joint limitations, we have group fitness classes for you.
Some examples of class options include Fit for Life with low impact aerobics for core conditioning, Chair Yoga or Zumba Gold with the same great Latin themes but a slower pace.
The YMCA also offers a fall-prevention program, called Moving For Better Balance. This class is specifically developed for seniors.
If you’re not sure how to get started, ask Member Services about group orientation at your local Y. During orientation, you’ll get an in-depth look at all programs and classes for active older adults, and how-to information for making the most of your Y experience.
