Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA - Leaders Club

LEAD – SERVE – GROW!

Leaders Club is a national YMCA Program that provides middle school and high school students the chance to become and/or enhance their leadership talents through various activities and events throughout the year.

Teens involved in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Y Leaders Club will meet once a week (and on occasional weekends) to focus on developing leadership skills through youth development workshops, healthy living activities, and social responsibility opportunities. They will additionally have the option to supplement their leadership journey by attending other YMCA trips, a domestic mission trip, and an international mission trip.

Teens must be nominated by a current member of Leaders Club, YMCA staff, an adult in the community, or a teen may self-nominate. Additionally, teens must have a GPA of at least 2.5 (non-weighted), and commit to obtaining 72 service hours (Middle School) or 100 service hours (High School) by the end of the school year.

MEETINGS

Leaders Club meets once a week on Wednesday nights, 7 - 8:30 p.m., during the school year.

ACTIVITIES

Clubs focus on developing leadership skills through character development, volunteerism, and physical fitness. Members have the opportunity to participate in group activities at the Y and in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community, and must obtain 100 service hours (High School) or 72 service hours (Middle School)  or 100 service hours (High School) by the end of the school year. Day and overnight trips include spring break and summer mission trips, ski trips, fall beach trips, service weekends and Blue Ridge Leaders School.

REGISTRATION

Interested? Teens must be nominated by a current member of Leaders Club, YMCA staff, an adult in the community, or a teen may self-nominate. Click here to nominate someone for the Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA Leaders Club. Group interviews will be held on August 26 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. 

All new, prospective leaders must attend the interview. If you are unable to attend the group interview, contact Ben Pruitt to set up an individual interview.  Applicants must interview and be approved prior to registering for Leaders Club. You must have completed your interview by October 1 in order to be considered for membership for the year.
