Kindercamp: Alexander Family YMCA

Kindercamp is a half-day summer camp held at the Alexander YMCA (1603 Hillsborough St.) We manage to squeeze a full day of summer fun into a half-day camp! Each week will be filled with themes, character development, games, awards, skill development, Wacky Wednesdays, creative arts and daily swim times. Our staff-to-child ratio is 1 to 7, and each group is led by enthusiastic and caring staff.

OUR STAFF

Kindercamp Staff staff are comprised of high school and college-aged staff that are 16 and older. Each YMCA counselor is hand-picked for their enthusiasm, energy and maturity. All counselors are trained for at least 30 hours in topics ranging from group control, positive discipline, safety to basic first aid. Kindercamp maintains a 1:7 staff to child ratio.

Kindercamp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kindercamp hosts Family Days throughout the summer. Family Days give parents the opportunity to meet your child's counselors and your child's summer camp friends!

Kindercamp: Alexander Family YMCA

One of the keys to ensuring your child has a great camp experience is to come prepared for a fun camp day. A little planning can help your child's summer camp experience begin with a smooth start and ensure that he/she has an experience to remember! Be sure your child gets a good night's sleep and starts their day with a healthy breakfast: 

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP EACH DAY

  • Backpack
  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday: Wear a Bathing suit for water play and bring a change of clothes for afterward. Bring a towel.
  • A healthy lunch
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Wear comfortable clothes for active play
  • Wear close-toed shoes suitable for running
  • Extra change of clothes

WHAT TO LEAVE AT HOME

  • Kindercamp is NUT-FREE. Please avoid packing these products in lunches and snacks. 
  • Valuables (includes electronics, cell phones, music players, etc.)
  • Sentimental items
  • Personal sports equipment
  • Toys
  • Flip flops and sandals
  • Weapons (both real and prop) 

DAILY SCHEDULE

Though daily schedules vary based on themes, special events and weather, a typical day at camp will often look like this:

8:30 - 9 a.m. Rides In
9 - 10 a.m.: Assembly & Snack
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Morning Activities
12:30 - 1 p.m.: Rides Out 

SWIMMING

Campers swim in the indoor pool at the Alexander YMCA on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week. All campers swim in the shallow end of the pool and must wear a life vest provided by the Alexander YMCA.
