YMCA Camp High Hopes

Camp High Hopes in Wake Forest is operated through the Kerr Family YMCA. It is fully subsidized summer day camp for children in select neighborhoods and communities around northeast Wake County and the Wake Forest area, or who qualify on a needs basis.

At Camp High Hopes, campers can choose their activities. We offer sports, swim lessons, character development activities, literacy instruction and traditional camp activities such as arts & crafts and outdoor games.

Through the YMCA's partnership with Wake County Public Schools, children are fed breakfast and lunch.

Camp High Hopes is held at the Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest and is open to rising grades K - 10.

Camp High Hopes is a fully subsidized day camp. 

Camp Times

Camp High Hopes runs from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no camp during the week of July 4.

 Sunscreen (please apply it before you arrive)

 Sneakers or sandals with a heal strap
 Bathing suit and towel

 Flip-flops or open heeled sandals


8 - 9 a.m.: Rides In/Breakfast
9 a.m.: Opening Assembly
9:30 a.m.: Activity Period 1
10:30 a.m.: Activity Period 2
11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Lunch
1 p.m.: Activity Period 3
2:30 p.m.: Activity Period 4
3:30 p.m.: Closing Assembly
4 - 5 p.m.: Rides Out


Children take a swim assessment on their first day of swimming at camp. The swim evaluation is designed to gauge a child's swimming skills and comfort level.

Once assessed, swimmers wear a swim band indicating where they are allowed in the pool. If a child is assessed as a non-swimmer, the Y will provide a Coast Guard approved life jacket.

Registration for Camp High Hopes begins on March 1 for returning campers and will begin on March 24 for first-time participants in select neighborhoods and communities.
