Jordan's Story

Jordan, affectionately known by his friends as the "Prince of Pop" and "Mr. GQ", moved to Apex a few years ago with his parents and two brothers. Passionate about music and as kind as can be, Jordan is known for his ability to create a sense of fun and community wherever he goes. As his family got connected in the Apex community, Jordan's brothers signed up for and quickly made friends at Camp High Hopes. But something was missing; they needed a place for Jordan.

About that time, the Kraft Y opened up a Camp GRACE location: a day camp for children ages 5 - 15 with Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD) or Autism. From music and equine therapy to paper plate awards given by highly engaged counselors, this camp has both a place and a heart for amazing children like Jordan.

Jordan's mom, Michelle, enthusiastically recounts his experience at Camp GRACE. "He didn't just come out of his shell; he became a leader", exclaims Michelle. "The joy he got out of being at Camp GRACE; the way his successes are celebrated and identified for what makes him so special; it builds confidence in him."

Camp GRACE is just one of many life-impacting initiatives supported by donations to our Annual Campaign. Find out here ways that you can contribute to stories like Jordan's.
