5 Programs for a Better You
The Kerr Family YMCA is a partner in the health and well-being of our members and community. That’s one way we aim to fulfill our Mission and our Cause. The YMCA desires to deliver a supportive community environment, which connects inpatient and outpatient services with wellness programming.
The YMCA strengthens community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. As our work in Healthy Living continues to develop, we are committed to improving the health of our neighbors through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Talk to our Healthy Living Directors and learn more about these five programs that are available to all YMCA Members:
YMCA Weight Loss program
The Kerr Family YMCA has been selected to pilot a brand new, 12-week Weight Loss Program. This program is designed to help people achieve their goals by making small, modest changes to their daily behaviors to form sustainable, healthy habits. These weekly group discussions include goal setting, food/activity tracking, an intro to physical activity offerings at the Y and weekly weigh-ins. Go to the Kerr YMCA’s Welcome Center to register or learn more.
YMCA Personal Training is a one-on-one, one hour time with a personal fitness trainer. Our personal trainers are educated professionals often with years of experience who can help any YMCA member including working professionals, new moms, seniors and triathletes. YMCA personal trainers come from as many different backgrounds and walks of life as our members do, and we take great care in matching members with the right personal trainer. Go to the Kerr YMCA’s Welcome Center to register or learn more.
Coaching Connections are designed to connect members with YMCA Wellness Coaches. Through this process, members can meet their wellness goals, make lasting changes and create relationships with YMCA staff members. Go to the Kerr YMCA’s Welcome Center to sign up or learn more.
8-week new member challenge
We know how hard it can be to develop new workout habits. In fact, some studies show it takes about eight weeks to develop a workout routine that sticks. Visit the YMCA at least two times a week for your first eight weeks of membership, and the YMCA will reward you with prizes. Go to the Kerr YMCA’s Welcome Center to sign up or learn more.
The Kerr YMCA hosts a member-led Run Club that meets on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. We provide a pacer so no one is left behind, and welcome runners of all ages and abilities. This club is a great way to meet people, share fellowship and spend time outside on your fitness goals. No sign up necessary! Just meet us at the Playhouse/Funhouse check-in desk.
