At the YMCA, we are dedicated to serving our members and community at all times, including the unique circumstances we currently face.
The YMCA at American Tobacco was reopened earlier this fall on a modified indoor schedule, with a primary emphasis on providing an option for those members most comfortable utilizing a facility where all would adhere to wearing a facemask at all times.
Based on evolving executive orders and public health guidelines, all YMCA facilities are transitioning to an indoor mask policy that will require facemasks at all times, including during active exercise. To learn more about that policy, please visit our website.
Based on these changes, and current usage patterns, the YMCA at American Tobacco will suspend indoor operations after its regular schedule on Friday, December 11.
In the immediate future, the American Tobacco indoor space will be able to serve our Medical Membership groups, many of whom consist of individuals at higher risk for health complications, in programs such as LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for adult cancer survivors and the Diabetes Prevention Program. We are pleased to be able to create a safe space for those groups to meet in person.
As always, we will continually evaluate the greatest needs of our membership and Durham community and assess how best to maximize service and safety with our facility and staff resources. We are so glad that you continue to make the Y part of your wellness plan for a healthy spirit, mind and body.
If you have any questions, we are here to listen and respond. Laura Ferguson, Executive Director of the Durham YMCAs, can be reached at Laura.Ferguson@YMCATriangle.org or 919-987-8823.
