Are you a North Carolina student in grades 6 - 8 who wants to learn how to make a difference in your community and school? Let us help you develop civic knowledge and skills to understand city and county government. We want you to learn how to be a youth advocate! Participants of the Town Hall program will learn more about their local communities and how to serve through leadership.
Learn About Local Government
During virtual networking calls with middle schoolers across the state, participants learn about local government & boards, advocacy, collaboration, and communication. Students will represent their communities at our mock state government conference which is attended by government and community leaders. From November 2023 through February 2024 program participants will meet virtually once per month to explore various topics including:
- Learn about local government & leadership roles
- Develop student government leadership skills and personal values
- Interview and hear from local leaders
- Advocate for your community at the N.C Youth Legislative Conference on February 17, 2024
- Network and learn from peers across the state
