Super Skippers Jump into Seventh Win
The YMCA Super Skippers Jump Rope Team won their seventh consecutive USA National Jump Rope Championship June 20 – 24 in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
The YMCA of the Triangle is proud of the team, not only for a great showing, but for their positive attitudes, good sportsmanship and perseverance.
“I'm so very proud of this team,” said Catherine Perry, Head Coach. “Throughout long, long days they've competed hard and continued to cheer for their teammates, even when events didn't go their way. That’s the team spirit and camaraderie I love so much about this team.”
The Super Skippers brought home Best Overall Speed Team, Best Overall Freestyle Team and for the 7th consecutive year were excited to be crowned USA Jump Rope National Team Champions.
Each Skipper had a great showing and the team brought home over 20 gold medals and set six new national age group records. For the Best Overall Speed and Freestyle Team, the YMCA Super Skippers scored more than double the points of their closest competitor.
The YMCA Super Skippers are the YMCA of the Triangle's competition youth jump rope team comprised of approximately 80 members that range in age from 8 to 22. Their home gym is based at the Taylor Family YMCA in Cary, but members come from Durham, Raleigh, Apex and surrounding towns.
USA Jump Rope Grand Nationals is a one day Open Tournament (no age divisions) for which competitors must qualify from the National Tournament held the three previous days. It is competition of the best of the best in USA Jump Rope. Jumpers from across the nation compete individually as well as in pairs, double dutch and team show events.
