Dzaus Kick Off We Build People Campaign
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the YMCA of the Triangle launched its regional Annual We Build People Campaign to raise funds for children, teens, families and adults who need the Y the most.
Dr. Victor Dzau, Chancellor for Health Affairs at Duke University and President and CEO of the Duke University Medical Center, and his wife Ruth will co-chair the YMCA’s regional campaign. This year, more than 1,400 volunteers are joining the Y’s cause to raise $5.25 million.
“The YMCA is charged with extending service to our growing communities throughout the region,” said Doug McMillan, YMCA of the Triangle CEO. “With the support of our volunteers, we’re confident we can fund those possibilities that reach beyond the walls of the Y.”
“This is not a campaign on a block or in a neighborhood,” said Ruth Dzau. “The YMCA's We Build People Campaign is truly a regional campaign. There is no fluff in this effort.”
In fact, 100% of the dollars raised goes directly to those in need in our own communities.
We Build People provides scholarships and financial assistance for all Y programs, including Y Learning, the YMCA’s standardized tutorial program, summer day camps, after school programs, youth sports and adult fitness programs.
