Christine's Reason Why

After welcoming her second son into the world, Christine stepped on the scale and weighed 250 pounds.
“Even before the arrival of my first child, I had fallen far off the fitness wagon,” she said.
Her reason why
Determined to change her lifestyle and keep up with two little boys, Christine joined the A.E. Finley YMCA, where she found the encouragement she needed to get started.
“Paula Ruff talked me into signing up for a triathlon after a rough morning trying to get to the gym in time with a newborn,” Christine shared. “She told me it would be a great way to start my fitness journey with support and a strong group of women who were also setting their own goals.”
Christine was instantly hooked and added Zumba and PiYo to her fitness routine.
“I found myself at Finley almost every day,” she said. “I found a support group of friends and fellow fitness enthusiasts.”
In her pursuit of improved health and wellness, Christine lost over 100 pounds and has since run over a dozen half marathons and two full marathons.
“When I look back at my health and wellness journey and my own feeling of empowerment, I completely credit it to the support I received from the Y,” she said. “I see the confidence the Y helps to instill in others, including in my own children, and I'm completely grateful for that.”
Today, Christine is a certified Group Fitness instructor, helping others find their reason why.
