SOCCER LEVEL YELLOW
Knowledge:
1. Explain and show understanding of goal kick, corner kick, and free kick taken in a regulation soccer match.
Character Development:
2. Give an example of a soccer player who is a good role model. Tell a small bit about the player, where they play, and why you like them.
Skills:
3. Receive a ball out of the air with proper form. Position the body appropriately to receive the falling ball while remaining on the balls of the feet, maintaining balance, and withdrawing the trapping body part to cushion the ball. After receiving the ball, the player will pass the ball to a counselor while moving down the field together. The pass should be made in front of the receiver and within two to three running steps.
4. Dribble between a set of cones using all parts of the foot including the instep, top of the foot, and outside of the foot; while exhibiting appropriate speed and ball control.
5. Shoot using proper form and accuracy. The player must hit the lower 90s from 6, 10, and 18 yards out from the goal. The player must make 4 out of the 6 shots.
6. Demonstrate the proper touch work of the foundation skill. The player must stay on his toes with the ball between the insteps of his feet. Player must perform 30 foundation touches while maintaining ball control.
7. Demonstrate the move the "in and out." Player must approach a counselor at appropriate speed, touch the ball softly with the instep across the body, and then rapidly touch the ball laterally back across the opposing player's body with the outside of the foot. Player must maintain proper ball control and accelerate away from the counselor.
