SOCCER LEVEL ORANGE
Knowledge:
1. Explain and demonstrate what a proper throw-in looks like and what an illegal throw-in looks like. During a throw-in, the player must keep both feet down and draw the ball directly overhead while trying to throw for maximum distance.
Character Development:
2. Learn the YMCA Mission Statement. To put Christian Principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Skills:
3. Receive and trap the ball while moving towards it. The player will proceed to run in the direction of the incoming pass and properly trap the ball while maintaining speed. After receiving the ball the player should play a direct pass to the counselor through a gate of cones accurately.
4. Dribble between cones with the instep while exhibiting proper ball control. The player may not touch any cones and must maintain within relative distance to the ball while moving.
5. Shoot using proper form from 6, 10, and 18 yards out from the goal. The ball must be on goal and proper form must be used. No toe balls allowed. The player must strike the ball with his instep or laces.
6. Show proper touch technique doing consecutive ball rolls. The player must stay on his toes, and do 5 consecutive lateral ball rolls to both his left and right while facing a counselor. The player must maintain an appropriate speed and maintain ball control.
7. Demonstrate the move "cut back." The player must dribble the ball towards a counselor with speed and cut the ball back with foot of choice at a 90-degree angle away from the counselor. The player must maintain proper ball control through the move and accelerate away from the counselor.
