Why are we here?

Well, for the past 50 years we’ve been an oasis for thousands of kids. A place where they can experience summer as it was meant to be: a time to discover, to make friends, to kick back – and above all, to have fun.

Camp Kanata also firmly supports the YMCA’s character development program. The four core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility are grounded by a faith in God and are integrated into all areas of camp life. Camp staff members consistently reinforce these values through personal example, one-on-one discussions, and during chapel and devotional times.

Camp Kanata annually draws children from some 1,300 families from the Triangle area, eastern North Carolina and other locations.
