We’ve got a great
camp. You’ve got a great kid. It’s a perfect match.
For 50 years, Camp Kanata has been entrusted with the job of
providing a safe, fun and challenging place where kids can have
fun, make friends and grow into responsible young adults.
And since we’re still going strong, it’s safe to
say we do that job pretty well.
At its heart, Camp Kanata is a community of people who live,
work and play together. Within a relaxed and supportive family
atmosphere, a child can meet new friends, build skills and – most
important – develop new strength of character and personality.
Children have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, initiative,
social skills, spiritual awareness, resourcefulness and physical
and mental growth. They are encouraged to share their questions,
wonders and decisions.
We also offer a unique two-phased Trainee program for 15- and 16-year-olds, specifically geared toward training past campers to become future counselors, and helping them develop leadership skills and discover the essential characteristics of a good cabin counselor.
Mature leaders are always there to listen, and to spend time
with each camper – providing the guidance and encouragement
that all children need, and serving as role models for respectful,
supportive behavior.
Don't get us wrong – this is about as fun a place to spend
the summer as you could imagine. We just believe strongly that
there should also be a focus on developing character and reinforcing the good values that are taught at home. And we think that in itself is a pretty good match.
