Come face-to-face with the best part of camp: the people.
At Camp Kanata, we know the importance of having fun. We also recognize the value of setting a good example. And we’re experts at finding staff who are really good at doing both.
Look beyond the friendly smiles and high fives, and you’ll see a responsible group of well-trained youth counselors, under the leadership of a professional YMCA director. In order to join our staff and wear the Kanata Day shirt, all of our counselors must have three basic qualifications: a passion for working with kids, infectious enthusiasm and the ability to be a positive role model. Then they complete a comprehensive training that emphasizes the importance of safety, enjoyment, a child’s self-esteem, devotions and more.
And then the fun begins!

“I think one of the best things Camp Kanata does is build
relationships. We could take away all activities, but it’s
the relationships with each other and staff that make a difference
in these kids’ lives.”
