What will your child do this summer?
- A - Watch TV
- B - Watch TV, eat
- C - Watch TV, eat, sleep
OR... D - Spend the summer making new friends and trying new things like archery, swimming, soccer, field & gym games, devotions, skits, teambuilding activities, basketball, lacrosse, arts & crafts, dressing up for theme days, recognition for good character and much more at one of the Kraft Family YMCA's 2012 summer day camps!
Day camp is a great way for children to spend the summer! Our energetic counselors are actively involved in creating a safe, fun and nurturing environment for your child. Each part of the YMCA summer day camp experience is designed to strengthen your child's confidence, character and well-being all while allowing them to make new friends and try new things! No matter what your child's age or what they enjoy, we have a summer camp for him or her!
At the YMCA, our program quality is a direct result of our staff! Our counselors are college or high school students with a strong interest in working with children - under the direction of full-time YMCA professionals. Each counselor undergoes an extensive interview, reference and background checks and completes 30 hours of staff training prior to the start of the camp season. The YMCA operates summer programs on a 1:10 staff-to-child ratio. Your child's safety and well-being are our top priorities!
Bead Time and Necklaces One focus of the YMCA is character development. We integrate positive characteristics into day camp with our bead system. All the children will receive a bead necklace and be able to earn beads throughout the summer. The beads vary in color and meaning and are a great encouragement and incentive to all campers. Make certain to ask your children what their beads mean and how they earned them.
- Red - Caring
- Blue - Honesty
- Yellow - Respect
- Green - Responsibility
- Purple - Faith
- Glow in the Dark - Family Night
Swimming It wouldn't be summer without swimming and the pool is a major component of our day camps! Your child's swim schedule (days and times) will vary depending on the camp you choose. The Kraft Family YMCA will swim at our pool during the summer. More detailed information on swimming will be covered at day camp orientation!
