The Johnston County YMCA Summer Camp staff is made up of high school and college students carefully selected through a comprehensive application and interview process. Each staff member completes 30 hours of staff training, which emphasizes the importance of camp priorities such as: safety, creativity, fun, camper’s self-esteem, devotions, and total camp spirit. YMCA camps strive for a 1:10 counselor-to-child ratio (1:7 for Kindercamp).
