Wish your child could enjoy the summer camp experience all year long? Are weekly field trips and swimming two of your child's favorite activities? Participants in Tracking Out learn new skills, strengthen friendships, and have fun. Tracking Out is a great all-day experience for year-round children attending Adams Elementary, Carpenter Elementary, Highcroft Elementary, Laurel Park Elementary, Morrisville Elementary, Turner Creek Elementary, East Cary Middle, Lufkin Middle School, and Salem Middle School.
The children in the tracking out program experience a summer camp like atmosphere, with emphasis on teamwork, values, education and fun. Weekly activities include swimming, field trips, arts & crafts, sport clinics, programmed indoor and outdoor games, devotions and character development.
Ranks
Tracking out has adopted the free roam activity schedule which originated at our residential camps, Camp Seafarer and Seagull. From 1:00 – 2:30p.m. every day, campers will be able to choose their own activity which we call "Ranks". These Ranks encourage individuality and responsibility for all our campers.
Some of our Ranks include:
- Creative Arts
- Basketball
- Backyard Games
- Tennis
- Archery
- Fossil Hunt
- Gladiator
- Fort Building
- Game Room Tournament
- Singing
- Handball
- Dance
- Pen Pals
Field Trip and Swimming
Each group at Tracking Out goes on one field trip per week. Field trips can be both educational and fun. Past field trips have included Jellybeans, Buffaloe Lanes, Adventure Landing, The North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, The History Museum, CiCi's Pizza, bigEbounce, and Goodbery's. Sign up for Tracking Out and find out what journey awaits us next!
Each group also has one swim day per week at our on-site pool. The YMCA pool is covered for the winter season, so swimming is a year round luxury for Tracking Out. Lifeguards are always on duty and flotation devices are available if needed.
Children may also sign up for swim lessons at the pool during their track out time. Tracking out staff accompany children to the pool locker rooms to change. Children join the aquatics staff for the actual lesson. Afterwards, tracking out staff monitor the pool locker rooms and guide children back to the program.
Summer Location
The summer care (July – August 2011 and June 2012) will be held at your choice of either Camp Rising Sun (on site at the Cary Family YMCA) or Camp Outer Limits (at Mills Park Middle School).
