Sun, Sun, Rising Sun. Like it, love it, Rising Sun....
Come along with us as we celebrate another great year of Camp Rising Sun, a day camp located on-site at the Cary Family YMCA. Campers are given opportunities to play, learn new skills, and make new friends. Enthusiastic counselors create an atmosphere of warmth and encouragement.

World Famous Assemblies
Counselors getting messy, kids singing camp songs, skits that make you laugh...all part of a Camp Rising Sun assembly. We kick off every day at camp by dancing our way into the Poole Room and giving one special camper the prestigious honor of "holding the pole". During assembly campers can participate in challenges, hear the thought for the day, win the coveted spirit stick and much more! Just buckle up and get ready to have some fun!

Ranks and Skill Development
Ranks are a unique way for children to learn new skills in a variety of activities. Each day campers choose a different skill on which to focus their Rank time. The focus is not 'playing' the game but learning how to play the game. For example, during Soccer Rank campers will be learning passing drills, discussing team strategy, practicing shooting at the goal, and learning the rules of soccer. It is an intentional time used to help campers develop new skills and refine old skills so that they become more proficient in that specific activity. Each camper receives a Ranks Manual on their first day of camp which allows them to track their skill development and progress throughout the summer. Our Ranks include: soccer, basketball, football, creative art, fitness, performing arts, aquatics, tennis, hockey and archery.
Who doesn’t have fun with Wacky Wednesdays?
Wacky Wednesday happens every Wednesday at Camp Rising Sun! Everyone (counselors, directors and campers) dresses up in a costume according to the theme of the week. In morning assembly, we will hold a costume competition and award one camper with the Wacky Wednesday Costume Award for having the best costume.
Bring out the whole family!
Every other week at Camp Rising Sun, we hold an event for the entire family giving the camper's family a chance to meet their child’s counselors and spend some time doing camp activities. Each Family Night is unique with tons of different activities to enjoy. Below are the dates and locations for our family nights this year.

- Thursday, July 12 Location TBA - 7:00p.m.
- Friday, July 20 Camp Out at Camp Rising Sun - Begins at 7:30p.m.
- Thursday, August 2 Talent Show Extravaganza at Cary Family YMCA - 7:00p.m.
- Thursday, August 16 End of Year Celebration, Barbeque and Slide Show at Bond Park - 7:00p.m.
