After School at Laurel Park Elementary
Children in grades K - 5 who attend Laurel Park Elementary School
Laurel Park Elementary

The Cary Family YMCA is pleased to offer after school care at Laurel Park Elementary. From start to finish, our afternoons at Laurel Park will be packed with team building and character development! The YMCA provides a safe, educational, fun environment for your children.

Our 2009 format is based on the YMCA’s core values and mission of building a healthy spirit, mind, and body. Our activities are guided by the core values of caring, respect, responsibility, honesty, and faith. We feel these are tools children need to build a future with strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Children have fun and learn with counselors who enjoy being around children.

At Laurel Park After School your child will participate in:

Assemblies: Children are given the opportunity to unwind after school with skits, cheers, camper recognition, huddle challenges and the thought of the day.

Devotions: Children discuss positive choices and behavior and work together to understand the concepts of respect, responsibility, caring, honesty and faith in God.

Huddle Competition: Team work is what it’s all about. This year at after school your child can work with his/her huddle to earn points towards a huddle party. Points are earned in assembly challenges such as: team obstacle courses, dance challenges, trivia challenges and by demonstrating character trait skills as a team. Huddles have a chance to win a party once every three weeks.

Clinics: A great learning activity for your child! They are offered on Wednesdays during activity time. During this time children focus on learning a new skill like soccer, hockey, ultimate Frisbee, cooking, or dance.
