A main focus of the YMCA is character development. One way this is integrated into After School is through our incentive program. Counselors award campers with staff dollars who demonstrate the YMCA’s character traits: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith in God. The teens use their staff dollars at our store to buy prizes such as candy, toys, cards, and even a pizza party.
Character development and age-appropriate skill development are offered through activities such as:
- homework
- basketball
- arts & crafts
- gym games
- soccer
- values times
- volleyball
- fitness challenge
- devotions
