Grades 9 - 12 from area high schools
Youth and Government is a club open to high school students at Cary, Green Hope, and Panther Creek High Schools. It is a program that enables young people to train for political leadership through instruction in the theory and practice of developing public policy. Students will plan, research, and develop bills which will be submitted for review. Selected bills will be read, researched, examined, and debated at the YMCA North Carolina Youth & Government Conference held the third weekend in February. Delegates attending the conference will learn and demonstrate proper parliamentary procedures in presenting and supporting the bills. Members can attend a statewide conference in Feb. Visit YMCA NC Youth & Government for details.
The program includes:
- participating at District Conference
- experiencing four days in Raleigh working within the Legistative Office Building
