Upward Bound will be holding two Family Nights! Previous Family Nights have included a trip to the Durham Bulls and a camp barbecue. Dates and times will be announced as well as locations for this year.

Upward Bound also offers a unique incentive program. At the beginning of camp each camper will receive a carabiner. Throughout the day teens can earn character trait rings to attach on their carabiner. Each color represents a different character trait and is awarded a certain number of points. After the teen has accumulated so many points, they will move up to the next colored carabiner. At Upward Bound we have a special time each day when we give out rings.

Each day at Upward Bound huddles strive to win the Spirit Stick through friendly competition. The huddle that is most successful throughout the week earns a special ring for their carabiner and the title of "Spirit Stick Champions."

At Upward Bound, we not only strive for excellence in areas of attitude, maturity, and discipline, but also in team unity and leadership through our intramural program. A different sport is focused on each week and the teams are given the opportunity to practice together. A tournament is held at the end of the week. Examples of intramurals include 3-on-3 basketball, wiffleball, and volleyball.

Field trips are another exciting element of Upward Bound. Field trips are planned around the theme for the week. Field trips are designed to challenge the teens, add adventure to their day, as well as an opportunity to have fun and new experiences. Field trips are subject to change. Along with the scheduled field trips, Upward Bound travels to the Cary YMCA every Mon. and Fri. for swimming. Please note that all participants need a one piece bathing suit.
