Swim bands are worn around the neck to let our staff know you are deep water competent and confident.

Yellow Band Test – Child must be able to comfortably swim one-half length (12 ½ yards) of the pool with face in the water and tread water for 30 seconds. Swim tests will be administered without the use of swim goggles.
Black & White Band Test (Deep-Water) – Child must be able to comfortably swim one length (25 yards) of the pool on his/her stomach with face in the water using over-arm strokes with rhythmic breathing or breast stroke with face entering the water between breaths and tread water for 30 seconds in the presence of YMCA Aquatics staff. Swim tests will be administered without the use of swim goggles.

Members, 8th grade and younger, may be tested to earn a Deep-Water Swim Band.

The first swim band is free. For each swim band lost there is a replacement fee of $3.00.
